Owens was established in 1923 as the local hardware and sporting goods store. Over the years, Owens molded into a team sporting goods dealer representing all the major brands that service the sporting goods industry. Owens started off on broad street in downtown Rome, but then in the early 80s was moved to a much larger location one street up from broad in order to accommodate decorating all their orders in house with plenty of warehouse room as well. Owens has a storefront for retail purchasing as well for the local community.
